Our approach

An extension of your nonprofit leadership team.

We don't hand over a report and step away. Our consultants sit alongside boards, directors, and leadership teams throughout the engagement — bringing executive-level expertise from years of leading nonprofits from the inside.

Every plan, policy, and system we help build is shaped by one purpose: to leave your organization stronger than when we started.

How we build stronger organizations

In their words

The organizations our team has walked beside.

Boards, directors, and leadership teams sharing what changed when our consultants became an extension of theirs.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jenny's help at our recent board retreat. She helped us organize our goals and priorities and gave us tools for further development.

Lynne Nelson

Board Member

We were referred to Jenny to help us get our 501(c)(3) paperwork done — and the team did so much more than we ever expected. Every detail was handled with professional care. After all the training, coaching, and encouraging, they became our biggest advocate. In a small town, that means everything.

Karen MacPhail

Executive Director, Lilies of the Valley

Jenny and her team have been incredible. Over the years they've helped us steward our board, build accountability for committee work, update policies, develop a succession framework, provide executive coaching, and assist with fundraising and grant writing. Our infrastructure is stronger than ever.

Chelan-Douglas Volunteer Attorney Services

Foundation Team

Jenny has given each of our committees excellent direction and facilitated significant advancement in their policies and planning. As co-chair of governance, having Jenny guide me through our projects has focused the work I do for CDCVAS on what matters most.

Matt Hitchcock

Real Estate Attorney, ExchangeRight

As past president of CDCVAS, I saw a broken system around our Executive Director's annual review — five years had gone by without one. Jenny understood the problem, drafted the policies, and built a plan that allows changing board leadership to conduct reviews without fail. We've just completed the third rating period with far more accountability and consistency.

Stephen S. Krake

Past President, CDCVAS

Jenny has been sharing her experience and nonprofit management expertise with me as a new executive director. With her help we've updated our bylaws, policies, and procedures, and improved our strategies for board recruitment and development. She is a trusted sounding board and mentor.

Eloise Barshes

Executive Director, Chelan-Douglas Volunteer Attorney Services

The team helped us write a tremendous grant that will fund our organization for the next three years. It will allow us to grow and reach more people in our community with legal aid services — something I don't believe we could have done without their experience.

Armando Bendito

Tax Senior, Moss Adams

Practical, warm, and genuinely on our side. Working with this team made hard decisions feel doable and reminded our board why we started this work in the first place.

Jenny Pratt

Founder & Principal Consultant

"Over the past several months, our team has had the privilege of supporting the merger of two local youth soccer organizations into one stronger community club. Nonprofit mergers are rare, and it has been an incredible journey to help two dedicated boards build something lasting together."

Questions we hear often

Before you reach out.

A few honest answers to the questions boards and directors ask us first.

What does nonprofit consulting cost?

Every engagement is scoped to the organization in front of us, so there is no single price list. Most partnerships begin with a free 30-minute call, and often an organizational assessment, so we understand what you actually need before anyone talks about scope or investment. We work with organizations of many different budget sizes, and we will tell you honestly if a smaller piece of work would serve you better than a larger one.

How long is a typical engagement?

It depends entirely on the work. A facilitated board retreat or a focused policy review may take a few weeks. Strategic planning usually runs three to six months. Interim leadership, executive search, and succession work follow the organization's timeline. Some partners stay with us for years, checking in as their needs change.

Can you help us form a 501(c)(3) or complete our nonprofit paperwork?

Yes. We help founding groups move from idea to operating nonprofit: incorporation and state filings, federal tax-exempt application support, founding board recruitment and onboarding, bylaws, and the foundational policies a new organization needs in place. We are consultants rather than attorneys or accountants, so when a question calls for legal or tax counsel we will say so and help you find the right professional.

What happens on the free intro call?

You talk, we listen. Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. Tell us where your organization is, what feels stuck or uncertain, and what you hope is possible. We will ask questions, share what we are hearing, and be straight with you about whether we are the right fit and what a next step could look like.

Bring your current reality — the questions, the possibilities, and everything in between. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and if we can help, we'll say so plainly. If we're not the right fit, we'll point you toward someone who is.
